AGGRAVATED MUSIC 002
A. G Zus - Crazy
B. G Zus - FILTH!
'Crazy's' signature sample sets the tone for this syncopated stepper whilst its grimey sub bass gives it essential dance floor momentum.
On the B side G Zus brings you hard hitting snares, kicks and an abrasive bass line like no other. Filth does exactly what it say on the tin. Enjoy!
AGGRAVATED MUSIC 001
A. Machine Code - Fuzzy Logic
B. Machine Code - Fuzzy Logic (The Sect Remix)
Machine Code serve up yet another hard edged techno d'nb tune in the form of Fuzzy Logic. It rolls, twists and resonates across a dark ambient soundscape that paints a portrait of dystopia and urban decay. Once again this dynamic duo have given a voice to the machines and it gets in your head, it unsettles you, unerves you...
On the B Side Agro residents The Sect have kept the sinister vibe of the original but have given Fuzzy Logic an entirely different lease of with their polished drums, hi hats and filthy bass noise. Long live The Sect!!
At 21 years old, Block Dodger is already making himself at home in the drum and bass scene. His first encounter with DJ'ing came when he stumbled across the now well established Stivs of Life4Land playing at a small venue in Cambridge while on a night out. Matt was intrigued by the sounds and atmosphere he came across that night.
The Life4land Crew went on to become one of Matt's main musical inspirations and some very good friends. Combining his love of music and audio engineering with his passion for dirty beats, Matt began to forge his own sound on the underground UK drum and bass scene.
In 2007 Matt founded the club night/free party Sound system "Guillotine" hosting venues in Cities such as London, Cambridge and Nottingham. He began regularly playing at clubs and free parties across the UK at the tender age of 18.
To date Matt has played at many established clubs including legendary venues such as The Junction, Lakota & the world famous SE-ONE. In early 2010 Matt encountered established bulgarian drum and bass producer Ogonek, founder of Metafiziq records noticing his talents. Since then, Matt has written forthcoming releases for several labels including AGRO's own label project AGGRAVATED MUSIC.
Bringing the noise since 2002, Matt Smyth aka G Zus is an up and coming producer who gives us an electric glimpse into where underground music is really heading. With his early inspiration lying in dark and broken music, by 2007 his work began a turn for the heavy. As he began to draw influence from stomping European Tech and the nastier side of Dub-step, G Zus began to forge a style for himself that can only be described as unique.
Smyth’s musical training began with substantial presence on the punk rock scene from 1999, with his band Athletes Foot. His early love of electronic music soon found him becoming a resident DJ at the infamous west-midlands night, Judder, and as his following became wider and wider, the rinser of holy Amen’s became known as G Zus.
With a residency DJing at the world-famous reggae pub, ‘The Star’n’Garter‘, and an ever increasing presence at Bristol’s top Tech night, Agro, G Zus began to draw a crowd from far and wide. His production began to focus on his tech and dub-step influences, and he began to collaborate with the likes of Deleted Scene and L-Tech. Becoming one of the top crowd pullers involved with Bristol’s legendary Avalaf Crew he started playing everything from Freeparties to Festivals. Dropping both the heaviest selection of new Dub-step and Tech, and also playing live.
In 2010 G Zus's heavyweight sound was picked up by the Agro crew's label project, Aggravated Music. With forthcoming releases 'Crazy' & 'Filth' on the label and with other releases featuring L Tech on Heads Of the Valley Recording 2011. Also with his side project, ‘Tea Total’, a whole new experiment in production, demonstrating his ability to cross genres to an all new level, G Zus’s groundbreaking styles in Dub step are set to take him international. His heavy blend of tech, break core, jungle, trip step and bassline now makes G Zus’s style almost uncategorizable. One thing is certain though, snares are a guarantee.
The Sect are Blade and Virtua. Initially meeting through mutual friends in the late 1990s, they have been producing Drum & Bass together ever since.
Growing up hooked to the bleeps and breaks of The Prodigy and London’s pirate radio stations, they followed the development of Jungle to Drum & Bass, eventually finding themselves drawn to the futuristic output of labels such as Underfire and Renegade Hardware – and in particular, the techno-edged Konflict sound.
Since those early days The Sect have forged their own techno infused style of drum and bass with relentless rolling rhythms, snarling bass lines all with a hard techno edge. They have released on seminal labels Freak, Offkey, Habit and Obscene with some of their latest productions coming our on Subsitenz not to mention a release on AGGRAVATED MUSIC.
In amongst continuously touring Europe The Sect also hold down a resideny at our very own event AGRO, consistently pleasing the AGRO fam. The Sect are constantly gaining momentum and will always be a favourite amongst the Agro crew.
Luke Tunbridge has been tearing out the filthiest tech ever since his escapades playing across Europe when he soon learned the darker the music, the better. With his roots in metal he began mixing on vinyl and producing on Reason in 2008, and his arsenal has been evolving ever since: now Abelton, CDJs and the sickest pangs are the way L-Tech rolls, and the king of tech certainly knows how to handle them.
After a four year residency on www.dnbradio.com, playing alongside the mighty Savage Rehab, L-tech’s quest for world domination led to him playing some of the biggest parties across Europe. The world record breaking Unsound free party in Italy featured L-tech’s tunes in 240 hours of non-stop music, and a six-hour set back2back with Savage Rehab saw L-Tech break his own records when he brought the noise at the Dragon Festival in Spain.
In 2008 L-Tech’s heavyweight styles brought him in the direction of Bristol, and soon after meeting on the underground circuit, a close alliance was formed with filth franchiser G-Zus. With an electric chemistry behind the decks and in production, the heaviest new double act in the South West soon began attracting attention. With L-Tech’s ’Dermatitis’ being signed by Heads of The Valley, the pair began forging a whole new style for themselves, seeing ‘Yob Kid (tba)’ signed by Aggravated Records, and developing a massive following all across Bristol. After experimenting with 6-decks-3-mixers-styles, their latest exploit features the heaviest 4 deck rinse outs that have ever graced the underground music scene, and their production is going from strength to strength. With a world of pangs yet to be explored, L-Tech is set for big things.
Kryptix aka Merlin has been creating and DJ'ing a wide array of styles of electronic music for the best part of the last 10 years. Recently massively upping his game in the ninja arts after a move to Bristol.
The force of his music is a dance floor assault. With splintering drums, rib-shattering bass and hallucinatory sonics.
Mix this with a respect for all forms of music and art in general it makes for an imaginative and unpredictable musical experience.
He's no slouch on the decks either, holding down a number of residencies over the years. Most recently at Bristol breaks night Fracture Clinic. Bounding seamlessly from D&B and Dubstep to Breaks and up-front Electro mashups, utilizing his considerable production skills to cause maximum dancefloor panic.
Dave Psyda is one of the founding fathers of Agro and Aggravated Music and subsequently is a full time promo whore.
Originally hailing from Devon, Dave moved to Bristol in 2005 and was instantly taken with the city.
Bristol fed, and still feeds his love of electronic music with hard drum and bass being closest to his heart.
Filling his days with postering, organising, djing, partying and all things music, Psyda is looking to promote the best in dark and hard electronic music.
His ears are always open so feel free to get in touch with any demos you have.
D&B// TECHNO//
Joe Gavenlock AKA Deleted Scene is an electronic music producer living in Bristol (UK). Originally hailing from a small town in the south west, Joe's musical obsession started to thrive with a first love of hip hop as well as electronic artists like morcheeba, groove armada, royksopp and chemical brothers. Whilst enjoying a wide range of music Joe has always strayed toward the darker side of the spectrum.
Despite beginning to produce on the most basic of equipment Joe has always sought to maximise his potential through extenisve experimentation, productions and constantly adopting and learning new techniqes.
Drum and bass became an obsession for Joe and this led to his first encounters with artists like Noisia, Ed Rush and Optical, Fierce, Dom and Roland, Stakka and Skynet, Kemal and Rob Data to mention but a few. This lead to a heavy focus on dnb production after moving to Bristol in 06, where a unique underground music culture thrived. After a while began exploring new genres and sounds like Dubstep, Metal, 80's New Wave and Cheese, Hardcore Techno and Breakcore which led to many experiments in distortion, synthesis, glitch, kick drums and mash ups.
After a few years in Bristol now Joe has decided to branch out with production and explore the deeper side of electronica, creating slow, bleak and sparse electronica. Influenced by the intesity of industrial metal and grindcore, the bleakness of ambient idm and black metal and the incredible production standards/techniques of 80's producers such as Rick Rubin and Quincy Jones, a rich and diverse approach to music production was formed.
Mixing vinyl since 2004 and now perforimng on Abelton Live as well keep your eyes peeled for Deleted Scene's diverse, energetic and crazy sets!
